Board votes to test neighboring property for fire station contamination

NH FARMINGTON — Farmington Board of Selectmen votes on fire station contamination testing. On April 27, board members voted 3-1 to authorize staff to contact nearby property owners about installing groundwater monitoring wells for PFAS contamination assessment at the former fire station site, with Chairman Charlie King opposed. The wells would be installed on adjacent property and maintained for the five-year duration of the state's groundwater management permit.
The board also unanimously approved amendments to the Hazard Mitigation Plan updating property valuations from approximately $409 million to $1 billion based on the town's current assessment, and authorized hiring a commercial appraiser to satisfy state requirements for a cemetery easement valuation on the water infrastructure project.
