Selectmen approve four-day highway summer workweek plan

NH FARMINGTON — Board of Selectmen approves four-day summer workweek for Highway Department despite safety concerns. Vice Chairman Doug Staples opposed the April 20 to August 21 schedule on worker safety grounds, but Chairman Charlie King and Selectman John Scruton moved it through 4-1. The board also approved RSA 79-E tax relief for Bill Murray's downtown 538 Main Street redevelopment, a five-unit renovation project estimated at 700,000 to 750,000 dollars, and reappointed Robert Morgan to the Zoning Board while appointing Randy Orvis as an alternate.
Town Administrator Jason Henry reported the Army Corps of Engineers will seek 340,000 dollars from Farmington for a 680,000 dollar levee project on a 50/50 cost-share basis.
